Spieling it all out...
I was raised in the state known for corn, the Amish and Michael Jackson. Pretty exciting relations, no? There isn't as much readily available entertainment in Indiana as other places. For this reason, I was able to stumble into my passion for event planning
Leadership positions during my college and high school years have provided me with experience in meeting and event planning. As the public relations chair for Rip the Runway Charity Fashion Show, I was in charge of forming partnerships and soliciting sponsorships for the event for two years. As the vice president of a women’s group, I planned weekly meetings and coordinated volunteers to help with campus events. In high school, I was part of a group that spearheaded a city-wide conference for students in the Gary Community School Corporation. It wasn't until late into my college career that I realized I could turn my passion for event planning into a fulfilling career.
I am currently a special event intern in Manhattan where my responsibilities include researching venues, follow-up calls and emails with clients, note-taking during client meetings, maintenance of the company blog, among other administrative tasks as assigned.
I am confident the skills I developed in previous and current positions will be beneficial to my success as an event planner. I am seeking a position with a company whose employees match my enthusiasm and excitement for creating memorable experiences.
